Max Maisey
Philosophy nerd and all around good guy.
Max started his career as a professional ballet dancer, dancing for Ballet Austin in Austin, TX. After which he began to pursue a Bachelor's in international service at the American University and Washington, DC. After realizing what a terrible mistake that was, he quickly switched his major to philosophy (because that's where the REAL money is). He earned a Master's in the subject, also from AU, and served as a teaching assistant.
While in the process of applying for Ph.D. programs, he accidentally started working in web development, and the damage was done. Though he fought valiantly against the allure of the code, it was too late, and he succumbed to it.
In his spare time, he still enjoys dancing with some of the DC's local companies. And he still enjoys philosophy as well—at least, as it relates to movies of the comic book variety.

FELIPE (FIL) CHOR
Nerdy in all ways (Physics to English), irreverent, dry, and has a slight tendency to go on interesting tangents.
Felipe started at the University of Chicago as a Physics major and ended up as an English major, mostly because that let him continue to take whichever classes seemed most interesting at the time. When he graduated, he realized his best grades were all in foreign languages, of which he had studied three. To put off applying to law school, after college he started working on curriculum development for an online education start-up. Felipe got a 172 on the LSAT and was accepted to Northwestern Law, but gradually and through much discussion came to think better of the whole idea.
Felipe's work in education technology brought him to Washington, DC, where he started tutoring in 2014, and then eventually drove him away to earn his Master's degree in Education, Culture, and Society at the University of Pennsylvania. He continues tutoring while living in West Philly, and misses DC almost as much as he misses Chicago.

JEN DILLON
Jen Dillon, Founder & Director of AdeptPrep, has been tutoring students of all ages for more than 15 years. Her tutoring career began when she took a position as an Educational Therapy Aide at the Child Development Center at California Pacific Medical Center while a college student herself. Since then, she has tutored a broad range of students -- from kids struggling with arithmetic to graduate students studying statistics.
Jen earned a BA in pure mathematics and psychology at Mills College and a Master’s degree in biostatistics at Harvard. She has taught undergraduate statistics at Colby College, Montgomery College, and Northern Virginia Community College.
Jen chose a career in private tutoring after flirting with academia because it's so fun and because she feels she has an usual combination of qualifications -- love of mathematics and love of spending time with teenagers -- that uniquely positions her to be of service to kids by helping them achieve their personal best on standardized tests and in their math courses, and maybe becoming a better person along the way. At AdeptPrep, she has been able to expand this vision to helping kids with any part of their schooling by recruiting a staff of tutors who are as passionate about their own subjects as she is about math, and who share her passion for helping to develop young humans.
Jen is proud to have grown up in San Francisco before the dot-com take over. In her free time she enjoys eating good food with friends and taking ballet class (not in that order). Her favorite novel is Pride and Prejudice and her favorite band is Vampire Weekend. She tries to meditate daily.
