nine WEEK MINDFULNESS COURSE
"Stop, Breathe and Be", the .b (dot b) mindfulness meditation curriculum for youth, was developed by educators in the UK with the support of Oxford and Cambridge Universities and is now being taught around the world. This secular course provides a foundation in mindfulness based meditation practices, providing students with the means to perform better in school, in sports, on standardized tests, and to live happier and more relaxed lives. Each 1.25 hour session includes developmentally appropriate discussion, activities, and opportunities to practice. For more details on the course content, see:
The Instructors
Andrea Browning
Andrea has spent her career working in education and youth development in schools, as well as through non-profits and government agencies. She currently spends her days managing education reform and teacher quality programs in the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Innovation and Improvement and teaches yoga classes on the weekends and evenings. Previously, Andrea was a high school dropout prevention counselor and community liaison and also has worked as an adviser on education research and policy topics.
Glen harrison
Glen Harrison has been a classroom and special programs teacher in rural, urban and international schools for the past 15 years and has been a program coordinator for IMCW since 2011. Glen is a youth mindfulness instructor in the DC area and teaches "Mindful Schools" and ".b" mindfulness classes for students K-12. He is a program organizer for IMCW and has been a classroom and special programs teacher in rural, urban and international schools for the past 15 years. Glen is a Gulf War Veteran and Returned Peace Corp Volunteer (Uzbekistan and Romania).
